Film Scoring/Audio Post

MUSIC SHOULD MAKE THEM FEEL WHAT THE PICTURE CANNOT SAY.

A great score doesn’t tell the audience what to feel. It becomes the emotional voice beneath the story.

Composer Nick Coetzee creates original cinematic scores built around character, story and emotion— from intimate, understated moments to soaring themes, mystery, tension and epic orchestral landscapes.

CINEMATIC MUSIC WITHOUT THE HOLLYWOOD-SIZED BUDGET.

A limited budget shouldn’t force you to settle for music that sounds limited. By combining decades of composing and production experience with today’s orchestral technology, remote collaboration and live musicians where they matter most, we can build a distinctive, high-end score around the realities of an independent-film budget.

The key is to plan for music before you reach post.

Too often, music becomes whatever money is left at the end of production. That can force filmmakers into choosing a composer who may struggle to find the emotional language of the film—or relying heavily on stock music that was never written for their characters or story.

Stock music can also bring licensing considerations as a film expands into new markets, platforms and territories.

Those costs and restrictions depend on the specific library and license, which is exactly why they should be understood before the music is chosen—not after the film begins gaining traction.

An original score is created around your film, your characters and your emotional arc. Build music into the budget early, and your composer has the opportunity to become part of the storytelling process rather than an afterthought at the finish line.

What does your story need us to feel?

Every score begins with one question:

What does your story need us to feel?

"Music is the mechanism that speaks to the heart in ways that dialog can't. It sets the desired mood and calls forth emotion on cue, so I can't stress how critical it is to have the right sound for the success of your film. The issue I see today is that most scores sound the same; experiences that audiences now expect with no surprise. Composer and musician, Nick Coetzee, on the other hand, was able to create a sound for our latest film, "Eating with the Enemy", that is truly set apart from anything we've previous heard; elevating our story in ways that are truly brilliant. In 20 years of filmmaking, I've never worked with a more talented and dedicated brother in Christ. For us, Nick is somebody who you don't just work with to score a film, but somebody who was as truly invested in the film as much as we were."

AUDIO POST

YOUR FILM DESERVES TO SOUND AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS.

Great audio post doesn’t simply clean up sound—it pulls the audience deeper into the story.

At Rain Music Productions, we bring dialogue, sound design, Foley, ADR, music and final mix together into one cohesive cinematic experience. From the quietest breath to the biggest dramatic moment, every detail is shaped to serve the emotion on screen.

HIGH-END SOUND. INDIE-SMART BUDGETS.

An independent budget doesn’t have to mean inferior quality. We understand the financial realities of filmmaking and work with producers early to determine where the audio budget matters most—protecting the story while finding smart, practical ways to deliver a professional cinematic result.

And one of the most important decisions happens before post-production even begins.

Compromising on your production sound recordist can become one of the most expensive Mistakes you make. Poorly recorded dialogue, inconsistent levels, unwanted noise and missing room tone can turn into hours of dialogue repair, restoration and ADR—quickly costing far more in post than hiring an experienced sound professional on set would have cost in the first place.

Capture it right. Build it right. Finish it right.

"God gave us all gifts, and Nick’s is clearly in music and scoring. He did a promo in a rush for ICVM that was masterful in editing and music!   From the church to the screen, Nick’s music is having an impact."
